Frequently Asked Questions
What to bring on board Jambalaya, and other information you need to know about your Caribbean sailing charter. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any other questions. "Do I need lots of clothes and dressy attire?" Not really. You only need half of the clothes you think you do! You will need casual wear such as shorts, T-shirts, swimwear, and beach cover-ups. If you plan to go ashore for dinner then we would suggest 'Smart Casual' outfits which are required on some islands, such as Mustique. "Can I bring my CD's, Ipods or MP3s on Jambalaya?" Yes of course! Feel free to bring any of your favourite tunes! We have 2 stereos on board : one in the cockpit and a separate one in the master cabin. We also have an extensive music library and many books onboard to read while relaxing in the hammock or on the sofa. Do I have to bring my own mask, snorkel and fins?" We have plenty of masks, snorkels and fins on board Jambalaya but if you prefer to bring your own, please do so. "Do I need to bring sunscreen (sun lotion) or beach towels?" Please bring your own sunscreen. We recommend the highest sun protection factor (SPF) best suited to your skin type; nobody wants to look like a lobster! No need to bring beach towels as we have plenty on board. "What about making phone calls during my charter with Jambalaya?" There are good phone signals in most of the islands of the Grenadines. We will be happy to provide you with information on rates provided by local companies. "Will I be able to check my e-mail while cruising the islands?" You can check emails easily while sailing the Grenadines and you will also find WIFI in most of the islands we sail to: either coffee bars, hotels or yacht clubs. "What kind of luggage should I bring on board?" Please bring soft bags—holdall, backpacks—which are more suited to boat life. "What currency do I need to bring?" St Vincent & the Grenadines accepts US dollars (USD) and Eastern Caribbean dollars (ECD), as does Grenada and most of the Caribbean islands. "Can I use my Credit/Debit Card on the islands?" Travelers cheques and credit cards are accepted in most places in the Grenadines. "Do you cater for people with food allergies or special diets?" Yes, we do. Please let us know about any food allergies or special diets well in advance so that we can accomodate your needs. If you have emergency allergy medication, please bring it with you. "What other things should I remember? We suggest that you bring all your medications. Most of the over-the-counter medications that are easy to find at home are difficult to locate in the Grenadines. Don't forget to bring spare pairs of sunglasses! |
